What is family numbering system?
The oldest child becomes 11, the next child is 12, and so on. The oldest child of 11 is 111, the next 112, and so on. The system allows one to derive an ancestor's relationship based on their number. For example, 621 is the first child of 62, who is the second child of 6, who is the sixth child of his parents.
How do you number people in genealogy?
They begin with the first person in the genealogy, the progenitor (William Walker here), and continue sequentially with his children in birth order. The sequence continues with the children of Generation Two and succeeding generations. Each person has a unique number.

Your grandparents and their siblings make up a third. The top level of the family tree is the first generation, followed by their children (second generation) and so on, assigning each successive generation a higher number - third, fourth, fifth.
