The consonants b, d, f, k, l, m, n, p, s, t, and v are pronounced as in English. c before e, i, y, ae, oe is pronounced ch: coelo (cheh-loh); in all other cases, c is pronounced k: cantus (kahn-toos). cc before e, i, y, ae, oe is pronounced tch: ecce (eht-cheh).

The letter is pronounced either "w" or "u" as in English (as a consonant or as a vowel respectively). There is no "v" sound as in English in ordinary Latin. In Ecclesiastical Latin, the dialect spoken by Catholic clergy, however, V is pronounced "v" as in English (or more realistically, Italian).
