What are the rules for naming species?
Binomial nomenclature is the system of describing a species using two identifiers: the name of the genus and the name of the species, in the form Genus species. The genus should be capitalized, and the species should not, even if the species name was derived from the name of a person or place.
How do you write a species name example?
The Latin scientific name of a species, be it plant, animal, bacterium, fungus, etc., is a two-part name consisting of the genus name first (by the way: one genus, two genera) and the species name second. For example, the domestic cat is known as Felis catus.
